Our Story
The weekend and the series of events that changed our lifes.
Everything started with the death of our dear Beagle of 15 years, Sam, on March 10th, 2007. Some months before, he began being sick and, although it was an old dog, we had decided to get him examined. After a battery of test and $620 of expenses, it seemed that Sam was not doing so badly. The only thing they found was that his heart was enlarged and a murmur which he had since birth.
We were prescribed a multitude of medications for him, along with veterinarian sold canned food. Although we followed the instruction to the letter, Sam's condition deteriorated instead of improving. The symptoms from which Sam suffered were: vomiting, drinking excessively and frequent urination. His little sister, 16 months old Roxy, a fox terrier and poodle mix, also developed similar symptoms. But she recovered from them quickly, the advantage of youth...
Finally, after several weeks, we decided that Sam had suffered enough. We had a home euthanasia, a procedure which we highly recommend, it's so much easier for both the dog and yourself. Sam never knew what took place and did not get to feel stressed or frighten. He was at home, on his blanket with us by his side. He slipped away peacefully and gracefully.
Some weeks later, after the tainted pet food scandal, we received an e-mail from a pet food retailer we used to go to regularly advising us that we had recently purchased a product that was being recalled. We could not get the details of what we had purchased, and we still do not know the complete story. As the weeks passed the stories were changing and we found out that the brand of food purchased at the Vet to help Sam had been recalled also. Who do you trust and what are they going to tell us next?
We decided that the only way to feel safe about the future of our best friends, would be to do some research and try and find products that we know would be good for our dogs. Products where all the ingredients are natural, organic, holistic and of the highest quality.
Realizing that there are literally thousands of pet owners who could share our emotions and concerns we decided to put all our research to good use.
We now devote our time and energy to educate ourselves on animal nutrition, on finding the best foods and products available, so our friends can live a healthy live.
